We're Back! And an Annoucement

So, we took a little blogging break to reorganize and go on vacation, but we hope some of you are still checking the site! We would like to make this a more interactive blog, so we're starting a new section on Thursdays. Every Monday, we will ask for our readers to give us their parenting questions/dilemmas, and on Thursday, Ellen will answer them. We will also ask for readers to add their own insight in the comments section. So, if you have any current parenting struggles, please leave a question in the comments section of this post!

Morality Monday - R-Week

"This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: 'In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength,'" (Isaiah 30:15)

Repentance--Explain the meaning of repentance to your children. We all must turn from sin and turn towards God. Take some time to repent during your daily prayer time together (i.e. what have you done that you need to ask God's forgiveness for?) and reinforce it throughout the day by having your children apologize when they hurt someone. I always have my 20-month-old say she is "sorry" and give the child she hurt a hug or gentle pat. This helps her understand that she hurt someone else with her actions and reminds her of how she should treat others.

Fun-time Friday - Q-Week

1. Quiet Game--The leader thinks of gestures and everyone follows, but no sounds are made (i.e. wiggling fingers, scratching head, touching nose, etc.). Now, choose a new leader.

2. Queen Esther--Read the story of Queen Esther in the Bible. How was her obedience rewarded?

3. Quarter--What is it? How many pennies make a quarter? How about nickels?

4. Make a special drink with Nestle Quick.

4. Eat Quaker Oatmeal.

Try-it-Out Thursday--Q Week

1. Melissa and Doug Queen Puppet--Put on a puppet show about queens and kings!

2. 20 Questions--Try to stump the game!
